A position paper | October 2024
This report outlines the creation of drone-ready infrastructure and the role of the Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange (NEOFIX) in advancing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations in the region. NEOFIX is focused on providing the necessary framework and data infrastructure to support the integration of drones and AAM technologies into Northeast Ohio’s airspace. The project aims to enhance economic development by laying the groundwork for increased drone operations, public services, and new business opportunities in the region.
Key areas covered in this report include the technical challenges of integrating AAM into existing airspace, the necessary infrastructure investments for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and the development of advanced air traffic management systems. The document also explores the current landscape of drone operations, the growing public-private partnerships that support these initiatives, and the significant potential economic impacts and public service enhancements that drone-ready infrastructure can deliver to Northeast Ohio.
