NEOFIX Report Q8 2025

The Q8 report for the NEOFIX Project, prepared by Stuart C. Mendel, Project Director, outlines the progress and developments of the Northeast Ohio Information Exchange (NEOFIX) initiative from October 1 to December 31, 2024. This report marks the final quarterly submission for the initial NEOFIX grant period, covering two years of project activity since December 2022. Due to prudent management of grant funds and leveraged investments, the project requests to extend funding usage into the second quarter of 2025, with a final comprehensive report anticipated by June 30, 2025.

The eighth quarter of NEOFIX focused on sensor deployment, coordination with regional public safety agencies, and engaging stakeholders to expand the project’s infrastructure. Efforts have been directed toward aligning Cuyahoga County’s investments with state and national drone infrastructure initiatives, supporting drone supply chains, and enhancing workforce development. Additionally, the project has advanced discussions with legislators and public safety officials to integrate drone technology for emergency response, public safety, and economic development.

Contributions from partners like Manufacturing Works, CriticalOps, and ATA Aviation continue to advance the initiative, providing essential expertise and in-kind support. The quarter also featured engagement with the Ohio Senate Transportation Committee regarding drone regulations (HB 77) and collaborations with organizations such as NASAO and Team NEO to drive future funding and policy alignment. Looking ahead, the project aims to continue sensor integration and pursue further funding to expand its reach beyond Cuyahoga County, reinforcing NEOFIX as a model program for Ohio’s drone infrastructure ecosystem and beyond.

Soaring to new heights, together.
