NEOFIX Report Q7 2024
This seventh quarterly report for the NEOFIX Project, prepared by Stuart C. Mendel, Project Director, outlines key developments in the Northeast Ohio Information Exchange (NEOFIX) initiative from July 1 to September 30, 2024. The NEOFIX project, funded with $450,000 from Cuyahoga County and additional contributions from partners such as CriticalOps and ATA, focuses on advancing drone infrastructure and public safety operations in the region. This quarter’s highlights include the receipt of $500,000 from the Ohio Strategic Community Investment Fund to enhance the project’s sensor network and $125,000 from the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management for a demonstration project titled “Drone as First Responder.” These initiatives aim to bolster public safety by integrating drones with emergency response services, expanding sensor deployment along Lake Erie, and setting up operations at Burke Lakefront Airport.
Additionally, the project is awaiting a decision on its US Department of Transportation Smart Grant Application. The report emphasizes ongoing efforts to leverage investments in Cuyahoga County to create a drone-ready infrastructure that could serve as a model for other regions. Key upcoming goals include further sensor integration and expanding the scope of the NEOFIX beyond Cuyahoga County, while continuing to attract funding for these efforts.
Soaring to new heights, together.
